Fairly recently refurbished, smart and clean. Usually a few interesting guest beers on offer as well as all the usual stuff. Decent honest pub grub. Big beer garden, really friendly staff who seem to like dogs. Water bowls available - just ask if you can't see any around. Dogs seem to be okay inside or outside so long as on a lead. Great location for loads of walks along the canal, river and surrounding fields and meadows.

Situated in the quiet village of Stoke Bruerne, Northamptonshire, right on the canal by a working lock, The Boat Inn has been run by the same family since 1877. I wanted to take this opportunity to tell fellow dog owners about this small country pub which we consider our local. We are always greeted with a friendly smile, and our dog Max too is always greeted warmly - the owners have a dog themselves and there's always a dog biscuit for Max. There is a large garden with enough bench tables for several customers. The food is really good too. There is a back door to the bar so you don't have to walk around the front when you want a top up or to purchase one of their delicious desserts! We have spent many a happy afternoon here.

This is our favourite pub and have been visiting the Queens Head for several years now.

Certainly an unusual pub. Dogs are made welcome and there is water on request. The bar is a small counter at the top of the stairs on the first floor, dispensing excellent real ales. The beer labels are easily read and the beer is poured from the cask. Seating is on both floors. Food is basic pub food, but very nice. All in all, a quirky pub well worth the experience and not to be missed.
