Tricky to find village but once there pub is easy to find and is in a lovely setting on the quayside. Barbeque area outside in the summer and a B&B where dogs are welcome to stay free of charge. Bow Creek is a great place to walk. They have two pub dogs Harvey and Mabel, a Border Collie Lab cross puppy. Dogs allowed in two of their six B&B en-suite rooms.The quayside is idea for a paddle and they have a hose to wash down muddy paws.

We visited on an out of season April on a Wednesday lunchtime and the pub was understandably quiet, however we were very warmly welcomed and so was our dog. The seated bar area was huge and we were invited to sit wherever we wanted. The food was lovely and well presented; pub food done really well and the desserts were even better. There were only three other tables occupied that lunchtime, although they undoubtedly get busy at weekends and peak season, but the staff were engaging and friendly to everyone and you didn't feel that you were holding them up like some pubs can have a tendency to do when they are quiet. Food is locally sourced and awarded. Check out the pubs website for details. Current owners have been there for 9 months and have already updated the bar and the loos, which were spotless. There is also plenty of outside seating, they have two dog friendly B&B rooms and there is a field with a public footpath through it just 25 meters down the lane. We only had time for lunch on the day we were there, but we will certainly be returning to try out the B&B for a longer break soon. So nice to go somewhere that is genuinely dog 'friendly' rather than just dog 'tolerant'.
