They serve food in the both restaurant and pub section and dogs are welcome in the pub section. The bar menu was basic but good prices - 2 meals for £10 and homemade chips - very very tasty. Very welcoming and they love dogs. Camping close by.

TRELLECH Lion Inn

A venerable old coaching inn, one time brewery and pig farm, the Lion Inn is something of a celebrity. Current holder of the Best UK Freehouse Pub, Open Fire Pub of the Year and Best Food Pub in Wales. But there's no hint of glitzy award ceremonies here. The emphasis is on the traditional; traditional decor, real ales, open fires, wood beams, home cooked food, crib and shove ha'penny. The truly enormous menu ranges from traditional pub grub, through to the exotic and unheard of; with an extensive list of authentic Hungarian dishes, as well as a number of Thai curries. Dogs are allowed in the main bar area and can look forward to a bowl of fresh water and biscuits. Very popular with the local Dalmatian Society apparently!
Two pub dogs will tip you off about the many good walks.
On road between Chepstow and Monmouth.
