Real traditional (and some say historical) pub on a good dog walking route. Doesn't serve food (except for butties on a Sunday) but is a really welcoming atmosphere for dogs and dog owners. Beer garden at the front is massive with benches and a fenced off area if you're not confident about your dog staying by your side. Dogs are not allowed in the back been garden but this is only a small area and dogs are allowed in every room in the pub.

They call it a hotel but it's more like a retreat. With facilities including a swimming pool, spa, steam room and fitness studio it's a great place to recharge your batteries. Not to mention being surrounded by some of the most stunning and breathtaking countryside. Kirby Lonsdale is famous for Ruskin's view, and a charming market town in itself. Small dogs are welcome overnight for a small additional fee and all dogs are warmly welcomed into the bar and lounge area. They say "Arrive as a guest, leave as a friend". Have a word with your dog before you visit the Scotch Piper because if he's on his best behaviour, the manager might give him a treat! There's water bowls, a nice garden and three resident dogs here: Whiskey, a Westie, Gin, an Alsatian and Guiness, a Black Labrador. The pub has 2 inner rooms that the dogs can use whilst being kept on a lead. Food is served in the two end rooms - where the dogs are not allowed. There is a superb beer garden for the summer months with water for the dogs provided. The landlord even fusses the dogs and gives them treats. The building is a restaurant attached to a genuine windmill. The windmill itself is warm and cosy with upholstered furniture and it is in here where dogs join you whilst you eat fantastic food at reasonable prices. It is well worth a visit as the surrounding countryside is great for a walk, including the Lancaster canal only a mile away.
